More on Critter Oil

I have to say that I use this product with great benefits, but I don't agree with the use of essential oils on animals. It is through my own study and research that I find that essentials oils are toxic to the animal world, especially on the felines. More included on that below. How I do use this with wonderful results is: Spray around the house (carpet, furniture, pet areas including bedding), if planning on being outside for long periods of time, just spray it around to keep critters at bay, spray on your self as a repellent.

The only way that I use essential oils with my cat friends is with allergies, 1 drop on a cotton ball, a few feet away from them, a few times a day. They sniff the air and this help open the breathing passage, and to purify the air around them.

Some of the danagers and concernes that essential oils have on the feline world:

"The reason is that most carnivore animals, especially cats, do not have the metabolic wherewithal to detoxify plant oils, and essential oils for example are all toxic to cats." and "The fact that oil of rosemary can kill bacteria and that it has antioxidant properties, is not questioned. But the fact that it does kill bacteria is also a very strong reason *not* to use Rosemary in cat food. The delicate gut bacteria of the cat gut environment need protection from bactericidal herbs, not the opposite." or "Rosemary is also a known mood altering herb, and as such may interfere
with the animal's cognition and response in society. [Int J Neurosci. 2003 Jan;113(1):15-38. Aromas of rosemary and lavender essential oils differentially affect cognition and mood in healthy adults. Moss M, Cook J, Wesnes K, Duckett P.
Human Cognitive Neuroscience Unit, Division of Psychology, Northumberland Building, University of Northumbria, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 8ST, UK. ark.moss@...] "Findings are that the olfactory properties of these essential oils can produce objective effects on cognitive performance including memory degradation as well as subjective effects on mood (less alertness)". Depression may not be wanted in cats who are hard enough to persuade to eat when ill for example.", Irene de Villiers, B.Sc AASCA MCSSA D.I.Hom.
